Lodge committed to improved communications
Welcome to the official Tetonwana Lodge web pages. This year, the lodge is committed to improving communications within the lodge. The various web pages are updated regularly, so check back often.
This particular page, the "Tetonwana Lodge News & Notes" page, is where you'll find lodge news items, announcements, miscellaneous messages, links to upcoming events, and other useful OA information. Be sure to check this page often as it will be updated regularly.
Individual pages have been set up for each of the major lodge events scheduled for the next year. Be sure to check these pages for detailed information about upcoming events. Pages are now set up for the Spring Conclave/Ordeal Weekend, Fall Conclave/Ordeal Weekend, Section C-1A Conclave, Vigil Retreat Weekend, Tetonwana Lodge Fall Fellowship, and the Tetonwana Lodge Annual Banquet & Lodge Officer Election.
We've also set up an on-line Tetonwana Lodge Photo site, were we'll be able to post photos of lodge events. Click on the link next to the camera graphic at the bottom of the page.
Finally, a special lodge e-mail address has been set up so we can contact and keep in touch with our members via e-mail. See article below.
We welcome any suggestions about the website features and information you'd like to see included in the lodge web pages. If you have suggestions or comments, or you notice something is incorrect, please let us know by e-mailing the lodge at tetonwana_lodge@yahoo.com.

Are your dues current?
When you took the oath of our Order at the conclusion of your Ordeal, you promised on your honor as a Scout to “faithfully observe and preserve the traditions of the Order of the Arrow”. Participation is one of these traditions, and the very basic way of participating is by paying your yearly dues.
Even if you have not become active in the Order, by paying your dues you give many opportunities to those who have. Our total membership number effects our positive growth, sets the number of how many Lodge Arrowmen can attend National events, and how many we can select for the Vigil Honor and other awards.
Tetonwana Lodge assesses annual dues of $7.00 for youth members (21 and under) and $10.00 for adults (over 21). Annual lodge dues help cover the cost of the day to day operation of the lodge and it’s activities. It also covers the annual Regional and National fees assessed to the lodge for each registered member of the lodge. We also make a monetary contribution to the Council for needed items and for Camperships so everyone can experience camping. So we hope you can see how important the paying of yearly dues really is.
You can pay your dues at any lodge function, or send them to the Council office anytime.
Members who did not pay their dues last year or in previous years can reactivate their membership by paying last year’s plus this year’s dues.
We’d like to remind everyone that wearing an OA lodge flap signifies active dues paid membership in a local lodge.

Free OA Dues . . . . . Adopt-an-Arrowman
Does that offer sound to good to be true? Well for any current Arrowmen it is a real possibility. In an effort to increase our participation in lodge events and to encourage active membership from new and existing Arrow-men, the Tetonwana Lodge Executive Committee has created an exciting new program called Adopt-An-Arrowman. Existing members who complete the requirements for the AAA program will be recognized at the 2009 Winter Banquet and have their 2009 dues paid by the Lodge.
This program is quite simple and is a great way for new Ordeal members to be welcomed into our lodge. Any Tetonwana Lodge member who has paid their dues for 2008 is eligible to participate. The program asks an existing member to adopt a newly elected Ordeal candidate for 2008. The existing member then contacts the candidate to encourage them to complete their Ordeal and help
to ensure they have transportation to the event by providing a ride to the Conclave or helping to arrange transportation, if the candidate does not already have transportation for the event. After the candidate completes their Ordeal, the existing member keeps in contact with the new member encouraging participation in lodge events and helping to arrange/provide transportation for future events. If the Adopted Arrowmen completes the Ordeal and attends either the Tetonwana Fall Fellowship, C-1A Section Conclave, or the Winter Banquet, then the existing Arrowmen who heeded Kichkinet’s call to help our brothers find the Arrow will have earned their one year free membership and recognition. If you are interested in participating contact your Chapter Adviser for a list of newly elected candidates in your Chapter or contact Lodge Adviser Mike Doss ([Click for member's page]) or get more details at the Spring Conclave/Ordeal Weekend.

How can I be of service to my fellow Arrowmen and the Lodge?
There are a number of ways Arrowmen can serve their Lodge and fellow Arrowmen. These include serving on the Tetonwana Lodge Ceremonies Team, serving as an Elangomat, or serving as an OA Troop Representative. Serving as an OA Troop Representative is a leadership position that fulfills a rank advancement requirement. If interested in this leadership position fill out an OA Troop Representative registration form and give it to your chapter leadership.

NOAC 2009
Every two years, Arrowmen from across the country gather on the campus of a major university for the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC).
The National Order of the Arrow Conference is Scouting's second-largest national program event. The reason for its growing popularity can be attributed to the fact that it is planned and carried out by Arrowmen themselves. Youth involvement ensures that the conference program will be exciting, relevant, and non-stop fun.
These gatherings draw over 7000 Arrowmen, traveling from as far away as Europe and Asia, for five days of training, fun, and fellowship. With each conference, NOAC becomes more diversified, more fun, and more exciting.
NOAC has many different aspects and it is impossible to participate in every event in one year. Each year events are added and changed so you could go to NOAC every time and do new things each time. The main activities at NOAC include training, ceremonies evaluation, American Indian events, shows, competitions, and Founder's Day. NOAC has something for everyone of all backgrounds and all ages. It is definitely one of Scouting's most unique and entertaining training events.
The 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) will be held August 1st through 6th at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. This is a fun-filled event that is the Order of the Arrow's version of a National Jamboree. Any Arrowman can attend. Lodges are limited on the number of participants they can send. If you are interested in attending one of the most exciting and amazing events the OA has to offer, reserve yourspot in the Tetonwana Lodge contingent by sending a $100 deposit to the Sioux Council Center for Scouting. More details will be shared in future Turtle Talks and on the lodge website.
