 What's a Section Conclave?

Once every year, the six Order of the Arrow Lodges in section C-1A come together for a conclave to share in fun, fellowship, skills, and training that can help your lodge.

The 2010 annual Section C-1A Conclave, hosted by Totanhan Nakaha Lodge of the Northern Star Council, will be the weekend of September 10-12 at the Phillippo Scout ReservationExternal Link near Cannon Falls, MinnesotaExternal Link. Click hereExternal Link for a map of Cannon Falls and the surrounding area.  Maps to Section Conclave.pdf

The distance to the Section Conclave from Sioux Falls is approximately 250 miles (taking I-90 to Albert Lea, then I-35 north to Northfield; then east approx. 15  miles on Minn. Hwy 19 to 310th Street - to camp entrance - on north side of road); from Watertown its about 270 miles (taking Hwy 212 to Apple Valley, then south on I-35 to Northfield; then east approx. 15  miles on Minn. Hwy 19 to 310th Street to camp entrance - on north side of road).  Section Conlave area map.pdf

At a Section Conclave, you'll find many different activities and events to keep you busy from the moment you arrive on Friday evening until you depart on Sunday morning.

At a Section Conclave there are limitless opportunities for Arrowmen to interact, learn, compete, and have a lot of fun.

If you've never been to a Section Conclave before, check out the 2008External Link, 2007External Link, or 2009External Link  Section C-1A Conclave photos from the Tetonwana Lodge photo album.

Some of the Saturday activities will include training sessions in the morning that will enable
youth and adults to bring a better program back to their home unit. Saturday afternoon
activities will include a Native American Pow-Wow, Ceremony Team Evaluations, tomahawk
throwing, archery, climbing tower, bouldering wall, swimming, and Frisbee golf, plus many
other activities that are still in the planning stages.

NOTE:  09/04/10 - Bring a camp chair as there will be no chairs available at the Saturday training sessions! Arrowmen from each lodge are to provide their own tentage.  Campsites will be assigned but participants are to pack as though on a weekend campout.  The conclave will be providing meals Saturday and Sunday breakfast as well as a cracker barrell friday night.

Lodge members need to bring  Parts A&C of the 34605 Boy Scout Medical Form.pdf, which are required for any BSA event that is less than 72 hours.  You probably already have a copy if you attended summer camp this summer or have attended other Boy Scout or Order of the Arrow functions recently.

If you haven't registered to go yet, please get a Section Conclave Registration Form.pdf which can also be found in the 2010 Summer Turtle Talk.pdf to the Sioux Council Service Center as soon as possible.  Please coordinate your transportation arrangements with your chapter adviser or chapter chief.

As of 09/04/10, there are two seats available for anyone wishing to go to the Section Conclave - leaving from Watertown no later than noon on Friday.  Contact Dennis Helland for more information.

If anyone else has seats available, please contact Dennis Helland to get your information posted here.

Cost: The fee is now $40. (You could have saved $5 if you had registered at the Fall Conclave/Ordeal Weekend.)
