The 2008 Tetonwana Lodge Spring Conclave/Ordeal Weekend will be May 16 - 18 at Lewis & Clark Scout Camp.    Area Map - Local Map - Camp Map

All Arrowmen: Every member of the Lodge is invited to join in this time of service and fellowship. We members must be present and acting in accordance with our values in order to lead by example. Please give of your time to help our new brothers on their long journey; help us honor them by working along side them.

Fees: The fee for the Spring Conclave is $35 for Ordeal Candidates, $25 for Brotherhood Candidates, and $15 for General Members.

Tools Needed: Various tools will be needed to carry out the many projects that are part of getting camp ready for summer.  If you have any of the following, please bring them to the Conclave: bow saws, pruners, brush clippers, wheel barrows, spades, shovels, rakes, paint brushes, socket sets & wrenches, chain saws & fuel (must be 18 to operate), and ladders.  Be sure to bring work clothes and something to wear you don't mind getting paint on.  There will be marking instruments available so you can identify your property, if not already marked or identifiable.

Tailgate Party - Friday evening while we're waiting for everyone to arrive the Lodge will be holding it's traditional "Tailgate Party", where the theme will be a Mexican Fiesta - with Mexican food, music, and events.  Everyone is asked to do their part to give the tailgate party a Mexican flair by wearing your sombrero, serape, etc.

Ordeal Candidates: This will be the first of two Conclave/Ordeal weekends scheduled for the year. The second is the weekend of August 15-17 at Camp Shetek. Ordeal candidates who were elected this year will need to go through their Ordeals one of these two weekends, or will need to be re-elected by their units.  For more information, what to bring, or a pre-registration form see the Ordeal candidate letter.

The cost for Ordeal Candidates is $35, which includes all meals except Friday evening, the Order of the Arrow Handbook, Ordeal member sash, a Tetonwana Lodge pocket flap, and a year's membership dues.  Registration is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday. The Fellowship Committee hosts a tailgate party Friday evening as people arrive, and food is served for a goodwill donation.  The Conclave will adjourn at approximately 10:00 a.m. Sunday.

Brotherhood Candidates: After 10 months of service and fulfilling certain requirements, an Ordeal member may take part in the Brotherhood ceremony, which places further emphasis on the ideals of Scouting and the Order. Completion of this ceremony signifies full membership in the OA.

All Ordeal members are encouraged to seal their membership in the Order of the Arrow by becoming a Brotherhood member. The Order of the Arrow National website has an excellent orientation program to provide more information about the Brotherhood process - please visit the OA Jumpstart websiteExternal Link for more information. Also, check out the Brotherhood Study Questions handout.  For more information, what to bring, or a pre-registration form see the Brotherhood candidate letter.

The cost for Brotherhood candidtes is $25, which pays for your meals for the weekend and your Brotherhood sash. Please pre-register, using the pre-registration form on the Brotherhood candidate letter.

After two years of service as a Brotherhood member, and with the approval of the national Order of the Arrow Committee, a Scout or Scouter may be recognized with the Vigil Honor for outstanding service to Scouting, his lodge, and the community. This honor is bestowed by special selection and is limited to one person for every 50 members registered with the lodge each year. Vigil nomination forms must be turned in at the Spring Conclave/Ordeal weekend, where the Lodge's youth Vigil Honor members will select both the youth and adult members for Vigil Honor.  Who is selected will be revealed at a special ceremony at the Fall Conclave/Ordeal weekend the weekend of August 15-17.

To nominate someone for the Vigil Honor please fill out a Vigil Honor Nomination Form or write a nominating letter containing basically the same information, and either send it to the Tetonwana Lodge at the Sioux Council office by May 12th, or bring it to the Spring Conclave/Ordeal Weekend.  Furnish as much information as possible. Remember that a lot depends on the accuracy and completeness of your nomination.  If you do not do your research and provide accurate information, it could result in the person not being considered.
