Philmont Trek 2012
The Sioux Council has reserved slots for 4 crews at Philmont Scout Ranch for the summer of 2012. Crews go in groups of 12, so we have 48 slots available. Our 2012 trek dates are for Monday, June 18 to Saturday, June 30. The cost for this trek will be $1250.00 per participant. Participants must be 14 or out of the 8th grade and 13 by June 15, 2012. Our Council Trek Leader is Chuck Mackey, vetran Philmont Trek leader.
When: Sunday, June 17, 2012 to Sunday, July 1, 2012
Cost: $1,250 per participant. Fee includes Philmont registration, transportation, lodging and food.
Who: Participants must be 14 or out of the 8th grade and 13 by June 15, 2012. You may sign up individually or gather your Scout Troop or Venturing Crew and go together. We have 48 slots available.
What Do I Need: In the resources section below you will find a list of gear needed for each person and one needed for each Trek Crew. Look at the individual list. Mark what you already have, make note of what you don't. Start securing gear for gifts, save for things you want, or borrow from your buddies.
Health: Philmont is a high altitude, backpacking adventure. You are required to have a medical form filled out in advance and signed by a doctor. You also need to meet Height/Weight requirements. Start working on your physical health and strength now.
