Joel Hathaway
Development Director
Joel is the Sioux Council, Boy Scouts of America, Development Director.
With one year of Scouting, Joel brings over twenty years of fundraising experience to Sioux Council. This includes eleven years as campaign director for United Way in two different communities and six years as development director for the YMCA. Joel is a graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary and holds a BS in Business Administration from Wayne State College.
A member of the Sioux Falls Downtown Lions club, Joel is currently the Sight and Service Committee Chair. Past volunteer positions include Lions Youth Committee Chair. In 2000, Joel was Camp Director for Lions District 5 International Youth Exchange Camp. Forty youth from around the world participated and stayed with host families before and after the camp.
Scouting duties has given Joel the opportunity to support youth at the 2006 National Mock Trial Competition held in St. Louis. It marked the first time Sioux Council and the Teen Court Law Post participated. He also helped youth explore careers around the clock overnight in Sioux Falls as a part of Sioux Falls After Dark.
Joel is married to Jane Hathaway and they have two college-age children, Kayla and Justin.
