August 29, 2009

  1. New officer Nominations and elections were held.  It was decided that each office will be for one year.  That way it will give the person elected to the office time to learn and grow in the elected position.
    1. President – Mark Retzlaff
    2. Vise President – Ryan Brandt will be the Admin vise presiden
Amanda Brandt will be the Program vise president
    3. Secretary – Steven Thares
    4. Media Rep – Heather Stayner
  2. Youth members role
  3. Adult advisors role

We handed out and discussed the job descriptions for each adult position that are elected, volunteered and appointed for council Venturing.  We spent time discussing what is expected of each position ad how each position can help each other to make council wide Venturing grow and be more organized.  It was suggested that the adult advisors have active youth in venturing.  Kathy Retzlaff volunteered to be the council adult advisor, Dave Engeldinger and Anthony Stayner volunteered to be assistant adult advisors.

  1. Corn Maze 2009 was planned for October 10 & 11 at Newton Hills Scout Camp.  Those who can arrive early were asked to do so to get the camp set up and ready for those who have early Saturday plans before they can leave for the get together.  All of our meals will be group meals so we can learn new recipes and learn to cook with Dutch ovens. Each unit is in charge of cooking but will share the food they prepared with everyone there.   Evening plans are to attend to Corn Maze and start planning for the next district campouts.
  2. Winter event 2009 – to be worked on at campout and via teleconference.
  3. Spring event 2010 – to be worked on at campout and via teleconference.
  4. Summer event 2010 – to be worked on at campout and via teleconference.
  5. How do we contact all crews in the council?
    1. Teleconference – yes for planning, use council toll free number and Dave E said e would be able to set up a call from time to time if needed through his work.  Everyone like the idea to be able to talk together from home and not drive four hours for a one hour meeting.
    2. Facebook There is a facebook account that can be addresses by anyone to keep in contact. Check out “Sioux Council Venturing”
    3. E-mail – Jack is getting a list of all Council Crew contacts for the crew officers to start making contacts and setting up communication with them
    4. Phone – Jack will be getting phone numbers of Crew contacts.
    5. Other – Set up a council web page for Venturing.
  6. How do we get more crews coming to events?
    1. More crews = more ideas / more fun

Personal invites, Advertise events, Help new Crews start up and be active.
