The Next District Committee Meeting
At an earlier meeting it was discussed and agreed that we should continue to meet through the summer so that we do not lose any ground going into next fall.
That said, as the July District Committee meeting is just before the long 4th of July Weekend, its been suggested that we cancel that meeting.
In addition, our annual meeting followed by our kick-off is July 31 so it does not make sense to meet again a couple days later in August.
Just a reminder, next year the District Committee will meet the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM rather than the second Thursday prior to Roundtable. This will give us time to do what we need rather than simply rush through several reports to get to Roundtable on time. We will also try to have some committee training opportunities during the year if possible.
It is strongly encouraged that all district committee members make the the annual meeting on July 31st.
Remember, Decision are made by those who show up!
District Committee meetings are for all district officers, district committee chairpersons, and members of the various district operating committees.

Changes to district e-mail
As mentioned at the past few Roundtables, the North Star district has outgrown the e-mail program we'd been using, necessitating us to limit the number of recipients we could e-mail during a specific period of time. This is the reason some of our Scouters and parents may not have been receiving regular e-mails from the District.
As of April 1st we have switched to an e-mail program available through the Sioux Council's website which should address the problems we'd been encountering with our old e-mail program.
NOTE: The switch to the new e-mail program took place on April 1st. If you wish to continue to receive district e-mails you will need to sign up with MyCouncil. See the top, right-hand corner of this page to sign up.

New Program Idea Sheets for Packs and Troops
Program idea of things to do & places to go
The Sioux Council has released its new Cub Scout and Scout Troop program idea sheets that units can use to find out about different types of activities to enhance your unit's program. Some of the activities given might be specific to some areas or communities, but you might have similar opportunities available in or near your community that you can take advantage of.

Can potential new members attend Scouting events & activities?
The answer to the above question is yes. All Scouting activities, whether unit, district, or council can be used as recruiting actiivities for potential new members in your pack, troop, or crew. Potential new members are covered by BSA insurance for as many as two events or activities without being registered. After that they must make a decision whether to join or not. Units are encouraged to have their members invite friends to Scouting events and activities.
