 Scouting For Food

       Last updated 10/17/08

Join thousands of Scouts in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 for our annual service project, Scouting for Food & Sight. All food collected will go directly to your local food pantry, which in turn will help people in your local community. This is a great way to involve your Scouts in a community service project and showcase the Scout program in your area!

Instructions:

The North Star district has 24,000 bags to distribute, which were handed out at the October 9th Roundtable. If your didn't pick up your bags contact us at northstardistrictbsa@yahoo.com.

Bags should be placed on doors or delivered in your community newspaper during the week before the collection day. Scouts should pick up filled bags Saturday, October 25th by noon.

We recommend you start picking up food at 9:00 AM. Food should be taken directly to your local food pantry. Please contact your local food pantry to arrange a drop off time. The Lion’s Club will pick up any eyeglasses that you collect with your food.

Please remember to turn in and report the amount of food collected (# or lbs), to your District Scouting for Food Chair or District Executive no later than Monday, November 5, 2008. You can order patches for you unit by mailing in the order form on the bottom of the flyer below.
