Lewis and Clark Sailing Adventure
After an experimental season last year, Lewis & Clark Scout Camp is once again offering a special week long sailing adventure for Scouts and leaders attending camp during the last 3 weeks of the summer camp season.
A very limited number of participants will board our large sail boat and sail Lewis & Clark Lake for the better part of a week. Each day will feature a different activity and take you to different locations along the lake. The wind and weather will help set the agenda. However, we will likely take in tours The National Fish Hatchery and Aquarium, Lewis & Clark Visitors Center, stay at a couple of Nebraska and South Dakota's nicer parks, explore astronomy if the sky conditions are right, and eat like a king. You will help crew and learn to sail the big boat like an old salt!
Your Captain and week long guide is Dave Broadwell. Dave is an experienced ocean going sailor and has a great love of teaching the sailing art to newcomers. Some participants from last year have been the first to sign up for 2009!
Space on the boat is very limited. Sign up in advance by contacting Camp Director, Barry Schloss.
Phone: 605-665-4392 or email: BSARanger@aol.com.
All participants must have passed a camp swim check as a "Swimmer" and be at least 13 years of age. The crew may be co-ed. It's best to be an experienced camper! It's important to have your Unit Reservation in, Sailing Adventure Program Request made, and full payment sent in, to reserve your spot.
The only weeks that we will offer this program are:
Week 4 July 5 - 11
Week 5 July 12 - 18
Week 6 July 19 - 25
